EAU CLAIRE, Wis., Oct. 31, 2012—89.7 WUEC-FM prepares for tonight’s kickoff of the Back Stage Concert Series, where Local Independence host Taylor Kuether will serve as master of ceremonies.
Kuether’s role tonight is to introduce each band as well as provide some background information on sponsoring organizations DMi Sound, the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center, and Volume One. Kuether is a co-host of Local Independence, a program celebrating local artists and music from the Chippewa Valley and surrounding region. In addition to hosting the weekly radio program, she has attended the Back Stage Concert Series several times in the past.
“Each time it’s been such a unique experience,” she said. “I love how personal and intimate it feels, with all the attendees as well as the band on the State Theatre stage with the curtain drawn.”
The first concert of the series is tonight at 7 p.m., and performances will continue through spring. Audience members join band members in the backstage area of the historic State Theatre. The cost to enter is $7.
Tonight’s performance will feature The Daredevil Christopher Wright and Cuddle Magic. Kuether and co-host Rachel Minske will feature a recap of the concert on Sunday’s Local Independence show.
“Local Independence aims to bring local music, arts, and culture to listeners in the Chippewa Valley, and the series feels like a live extension of that,” Kuether said.
