The first broadcast of the year for WUEC 89.7 FM’s Blugold Radio will feature in-depth interviews with UW-Eau Claire’s new chancellor and performing artist Teddy Geiger.
Blugold Radio (Sundays 5-8) has been updated this year and these changes will be covered in an early feature by Rachel Minske and Jacob Zipperer.
During the first hour, Chi Ab Vang will interview Dr. James Schmidt, who became Chancellor of UW-Eau Claire on July 1.Schmidt will discuss the challenges and opportunities he sees within the university and community.
Sara Hansen will interview the Minneapolis band Step Rockets who will be performing at Eau Claire’s House of Rock on September 11 with the doors opening at 9 p.m. The band is embarking on their first Wisconsin tour and their new single “Kisser” has earned over 100,000 plays on Soundcloud.
In the second hour, Jessica Sharpee will interview Rachel Debner and Ginna Roe about their research on Maldova and the challenges of reporting abroad.
New recurring segments will be debuted as Raina Beutel will introduce “Raina At Large” and Martha Landry will provide an environmental update. Beutel will cover what is trending in Eau Claire while Landry will report on compost use on campus.
Glenn Olson will sit down with Spectator staff members to discuss the changes made to the student newspaper and its plans for the upcoming year.
Hour three will feature an in studio interview by Kelsie McMahon with performing artist Teddy Geiger. Geiger will be performing at Owen Park on September 6 at 7:30 p.m. and is on tour in support of his new album The Last Fears.
Each hour will also feature news, sports, and arts updates as well as the host’s event pick of the week.
