Blugold Radio Programming for November 10

EAU CLAIRE, Wis., Nov. 5, 2013––This week’s broadcast of Blugold Radio will feature an interview with performing artist $tarbound and a feature on UW-Eau Claire student organization Colleges Against Cancer.

In the first hour, Jessica Sharpee will highlight UWEC’s Colleges Against Cancer during her weekly student orgs segment. The organization works throughout the year to raise awareness of cancer and is currently running a Mr. November contest.

Rachel Minske will interview members of the UWEC Student Senate Finance Commission. The commission recently allocated money to the university’s student organizations and will be hearing appeals soon.

During the second hour of Blugold Radio (Sundays 5-8 pm,) Sharpee will debut a brand new history feature. These segments will describe historical events in UWEC’s rich history and will be narrated by students.

Elliott Etzkorn will sit down with Dr. Scott Whitfield, a professor in UWEC’s Department of Physics and Astronomy. Whitfield has conducted research relating to atomic physics and will explain the mysterious Higgs Boson particle.

Hour three will include Kelsie McMahon’s interview with performing artist $tarbound. The songwriter will be the opening act for Kid Ink at Eau Claire’s Zorn Arena on November 9 at 7:30 pm.

Blugold Radio News will feature Shelli Adamcyzk’s report on a UWEC honors program that focuses on students helping in the community as well as an update on the mascot auditions from Glenn Olson. Zhen Wei Yap will talk about the Brazilian exchange program that is available for S.T.E.M. fields. J.T. Lim will cover the events being held on November 5 at UWEC that focus on North Korea. A mini-conference will be held in the morning to discuss the politics of the country and a six-party simulation will be held in the evening where individuals will have to act as negotiators for countries when the topic is nuclear weapons.
