WUEC 89.7 FM PROGRAMMING FOR OCTOBER 26
EAU CLAIRE, Wis., October 21–– Blugold Radio airs this Sunday with a feature on a University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire upcoming Gatsby Gala.
Producer Kayla Menzie’s “Around the Arts” segment this week will highlight an interview with Mark Blaskey, the President of the Board for Eau Claire Jazz Inc., on the upcoming Gatsby Gala. The Gala will take place on November 14 at 8:00 p.m. in the Ojibwe Ballroom of Davies Student Center. The 1920’s themed party will feature a number of jazz musicians, vocalists and dancing.
News Director Glen Olson will be discussing what is being done about the excess money generated from student fees for Davies Student Center, text book rentals, and a number of other programs and why those fees are not being lowered.
Reporter Sam Martinez will be speaking about the donation of a number of plays and works to the UW-Eau Claire Foundation by Dr. Tess Onwueme. Onwueme is a professor of English at UW-Eau Claire.
Producer Courtney Kueppers will be talking to members of the Pre-Chiropractic Club. The UW-Eau Claire Pre-Chiropractic Club gives members an opportunity to network with professionals, assistance in advancing in their education and careers and to build relationships with people who have similar interests.
Producer Zhen Wei Yap will be interviewing Maria Carvalho from the Center of International Education about the upcoming International Folk Fair his International segment “The Zhen Plane.” The annual folk fair will be taking place on Sunday, November 2 at noon in Davies Student Center. Reporter Elizabeth Gosling will be playing popular French music during the broadcast.
Reporter Samantha Wensel will be reviewing the remake of the classic horror film “Carrie” for her weekly “Sammi Says” segment. The original version of the Stephen King novel about a shy outcast with telekinesis powers, was released in 1976. The 2013 film was directed by Kimberly Pierce and stars Julianne Moore and Chloe Grace Moretz. Both the 1976 and 2013 films are available for streaming on Netflix.
Reporter Kiri Salinas will be reporting on the therapy dogs located in the McIntyre library.
And finally, reporter Jake Paulis will be playing electronic music by bands such as “The Floosies” and “Yip Deceiver” throughout the program. Electronic music is music created by using purely electronic technology like a computer and synthesizer.
