Blugold Radio Programming for December 7 Broadcast

EAU CLAIRE, Wis., December 2–– Blugold Radio airs this Sunday with a feature on an upcoming performance by local singer-songwriter Hannah Hebl .

Producer Kayla Menzie’s “Exploring the Arts” segment this week will highlight an interview with Hannah Hebl. Hebl will be performing at The Cabin in Davies Student Center on Friday, December 12.

Reporter Kiri Salinas will be speaking with poet laureate, and professor, Max Garland about the state of the arts in Wisconsin and how students can become more involved in poetry. Garland has been traveling the state as poet laureate since January 1, 2013.

Reporter Sam Martinez will be speaking with Chris Jorgenson, the Women’s & LGBTQ Resource Center Coordinator, about the university hosting the AIDS Memorial Quilt. The quilt, sponsored by the NAMES project foundation, is made up of memorial panels commemorating the lives of individuals who have died from AIDS. The quilt will be on display in the Ojibwe ballroom in Davies Student Center from December 8 to December 11 and can be viewed from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Station Manager Breane Lyga will return with her research segment for this week’s broadcast.

Reporter Eddie Sanchez will be reporting on a recent Fall Diversity Conference. The student-organized event titled “Social Justice League: Stand Up, Speak Out” created a safe space for students, faculty, staff and community to discuss what it means to be an “ally” of oppressed groups in our community.

Producer Zhen Wei Yap and reporter Elizabeth Gosling will be exploring traditions and music in Belgium during the international segment, “The Zhen Plane.”

Reporter Samantha Wensel will be reviewing the Christmas movie, “Elf” during her weekly “Sammi Says” segment. The 2003 comedy stars Will Ferrell as Buddy the Elf.

And finally, Reporter Jake Paulis will be playing music from local Blues musicians, like Howard “Guitar” Luedtke and Jim Solberg, throughout the broadcast. Blues is a music genre derived from folk music that originated in the Deep South during the late 19th century.
