Blugold Radio Programming February 22 Broadcast

EAU CLAIRE, Wis., February 18–– Blugold Radio airs on 89.7 FM from 5 to 8 p.m. this Sunday with a feature on Minneapolis-based violinist and singer Jillian Rae. Producer Kayla Menzie will interview Jillian Rae during her ‘Exploring the Arts’ segment. Besides performing, Jillian Rae also opened a music school in 2011 to help share her passion with young musicians.
In campus news, News Director Glen Olson will be reporting on future changes to the differential tuition and the Blugold Commitment. Reporter Kiri Salinas will be reporting on an increase in recycling in the residence halls over the last semester due to involvement in a new program, the Wisconsin Wrap Recycling Action Program. The program is an initiative to reduce plastic waste and increase plastic bag recycling. Reporter Symone Foster will interview John Politz, the director of McIntyre library, about the state of libraries across Wisconsin and how the governor’s new budget may affect them. Finally, Station Manager Breane Lyga will be reporting on the “Civil Conversations” documentary being created by the Communication and Journalism Department. The documentary includes interviews from the annual Civil Rights Pilgrimage.
This week’s broadcast will also feature some exciting entertainment highlights. Producer Courtney Kueppers and Reporter Elizabeth Gosling will be exploring Moldavian culture and music during this week’s international segment. And Reporter Jake Paulis will play bluegrass music by bands like Green Sky Bluegrass throughout the show.
Reporter Leah Engebretson and Reporter Miles Melton- Mraz will review the recently released film “Dear White People.” The 2014 comedy directed by Justin Simien follows the lives of 4 black students at an Ivy League college.
Finally, Producer Sammi Wensel will be reviewing Noodle Teahouse, a Vietnamese restaurant, during her ‘Eau Claire Eats’ segment. Noodle Teahouse is located in the Eastridge Center off of South Hastings Way.
