Blugold Radio Programming March 1 Broadcast

EAU CLAIRE, Wis., February 25–– Blugold Radio airs on 89.7 FM from 5 to 8 p.m. this Sunday with a feature on Dr. Jennifer Dahl’s recent recognition as a Regent Scholar. Station Manager Breane Lyga will interview Dahl, a Material Sciences professor at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, on receiving this prestigious award and about her research with nanoparticles.

Reporter Kiri Salinas will be reporting on an increase in recycling in the residence halls over the last semester due to involvement in a new program, the Wisconsin Wrap Recycling Action Program. The program is an initiative to reduce plastic waste and increase plastic bag recycling.  Reporter Symone Foster will report on the Fireball being held this Friday, February 27 and Saturday, February 28. The Fireball is an annual drag show held at the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire, all proceeds from the event go to the LGBTQA Student Support Fund.

This week’s broadcast will also feature some exciting entertainment highlights. Producer Kayla Menzie will talk with participants of the University’s upcoming opera, Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro.” The show debuts Thursday, February 26 and will run through Sunday, March 8. Producer Courtney Kueppers and Assistant Producer Elizabeth Gosling will be exploring Latvian culture and music during this week’s international segment.

Assistant Producer Miles Melton- Mraz will review the recently released film “Dear White People.” The 2014 comedy directed by Justin Simien follows the lives of 4 black students at an Ivy League college. And Assistant Producer Jake Paulis will play music from Miracle of Sound. Miracle of Sound is music that has been produced for movies and games.

Producer Sammi Wensel will be reviewing Randy’s Family Restaurant, a local diner, during her ‘Eau Claire Eats’ segment. Randy’s Family Restaurant is located on the corner of MacArthur Avenue and Craig Road in Eau Claire.

Finally, Assistant Producer Matthew Rothschild will interview Josh Yebba one of the founders of “Shoddycast.” “Shoddycast” can be found on Youtube and is independent videos of lore taken from video game storylines.
