WUEC 89.7 FM PROGRAMMING FOR MARCH 15
EAU CLAIRE, Wis., March 10- Blugold Radio airs on 89.7 FM from 5 to 8 p.m. this Sunday with a feature on Station Manager Breane Lyga and Producer Courtney Kuepper’s trip to Selma for the 50th anniversary of “Bloody Sunday.” Lyga and Kueppers had the opportunity to cover the event and interview various individuals about historic event.
Reporter Kiri Salinas will continue her story on the rumors of free-tuition if a student gets hit by a university vehicle or if their roommate dies. Reporter Symone Foster will report on the new campaign “Be Smart, Buddy Up” that was started by a Blugold wrestler whose teammate drowned in the Chippewa River in the fall of 2011 following a night out with friends. Finally in news, Reporter Raina Beutel will be looking into new ways that the Eau Claire Police Department will be making decisions based off of evidence.
This week’s broadcast will also feature some exciting entertainment highlights. Assistant Producer Miles Melton- Mraz will review the film “Chasing Ice.” This 2012 documentary follows National Geographic photographer James Balog, a former denier of climate change, across the Arctic as he sets up time-lapse cameras to capture the changes to the landscape over multiple years. “Chasing Ice” is being shown by the Student Office of Sustainability on Thursday, March 19 at 7:00 p.m.m in Woodland Theater in Davies Student Center.
Assistant Producer Jake Paulis will play music from the Scottish rock band, Franz Ferdinand. The band was formed in 2002 and have been nominated for several Grammy and BRIT awards. And finally, Producer Sammi Wensel will be interviewing the owner of the Goat Coffee House during her Eau Claire Eat’s segment. Goat Coffee House is a local café located on Water Street.
