WUEC 89.7 FM PROGRAMMING FOR MARCH 22
EAU CLAIRE, Wis., March 18–– Blugold Radio airs on 89.7 FM from 5 to 8 p.m. this Sunday with a feature by Reporter Raina Beutel on a possible change to the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate election process. These changes could switch the election to an online format rather than traditional paper ballots.
Station Manager Breane Lyga will report on the new campaign “Be Smart, Buddy Up” that was started by a Blugold wrestler whose teammate drowned in the Chippewa River in the fall of 2011 following a night out with friends. Finally in news, News Director Glen Olson will look into possible changes to how the UW-System reports and documents sexual assault.
This week’s broadcast will feature some exciting entertainment highlights. Producer Kayla Menzie will speak with two members of Alpha Xi Delta, Rachael McCrary and Mariah Wild, during her Exploring the Arts segment. Alpha Xi Delta is showing the film “The Story of Luke” on March 30 at 7 p.m. in Woodland Theater to raise awareness for their national philanthropy, Autism Speaks. Assistant Producer Jake Meurett will air the third and final segment of his exciting western radio drama “Gun Violence” and Producer Courtney Kueppers and Assistant Producer Elizabeth Gosling will revisit Brazil during this week’s international segment.
Also in entertainment, Assistant Producer Miles Melton- Mraz will review the 2007 film “Sunshine.” This sci-fi thriller is directed by Danny Boyle and stars Cillian Murphy, Rose Byrne and Chris Evans. And finally, Assistant Producer Jake Paulis will play music from the American rock band, Modest Mouse.
