Blugold Radio Programming April 12 Broadcast

EAU CLAIRE, Wis., April 9 – Blugold Radio 89.7 FM airs this Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.m with a feature story by Station Manager Breane Lyga on the results of the Tuesday, April 7 election. Wisconsin Supreme Court justices and a constitutional amendment were on the ballot statewide, as well as local elections for school board and municipality representatives.

Reporter Raina Beutel will be reporting on the UW-Eau Claire Chancellor’s Roundtable that took place on Wednesday, April 8. This month’s Roundtable focused on inclusivity issues and students had the opportunity to discuss their concerns with Chancellor Jim Schmidt. Reporter Symone Foster will be speaking with Chuck Majors, the Director of Housing and Residence Life, about the approval by the Wisconsin State Building commission for $33 million dollars in renovations to the Towers residence hall. And finally in news, Reporter Kiri Salinas will be reporting on the upcoming student art exhibits at the Foster Art Gallery.

This week’s broadcast will also feature some exciting entertainment highlights. Producer Kayla Menzie will be interviewing attendees of the 2015 Viennese Ball for her Exploring the Arts segment. The 41st annual Viennese Ball will take place this Friday, April 10 and Saturday, April 11 in the Davies Center on the UW-Eau Claire campus.

Producer Courtney Keuppers and Assistant Producer Elizabeth Gosling will be exploring Nicaraguan culture and music during their international segment and Assistant Producer Jake Paulis will play Ska music. Ska is a genre of music define by a mixture of Caribbean mento and calypso sounds combined with American blues and jazz style.

Also in entertainment, Assistant Producer Miles Melton-Mraz will review the 1984 drama musical “Purple Rain” starring Prince and Assistant Producer Matthew Rothschild will be reviewing “Parasyte,” a horror anime series. “Parasyte” was originally written as a manga series and has since been adapted to television and film.

Finally, Producer Sammi Wensel will be visiting Singha during her Eau Claire Eats segment. Singha is a Thai restaurant located on North Barstow Street in Eau Claire.
