WUEC 89.7 FM PROGRAMMING FOR SEPTEMBER
EAU CLAIRE, Wis., September 17, 2015–– Blugold Radio, a news, interview and cultural program developed by students at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, begins a new season of broadcasts Sunday night, September 19 5-8 p.m. on 89.7 WUEC-FM. This week Blugold Radio will have a feature from News Director Symone Foster on the Dean of Students’ Student Empowerment Survey. The survey, sent out by Dean of Students, Joseph Abhold asks students to participate in an online course that is designed to help students acclimate to the campus climate. The survey covers important topics such as relationships and substance use.
Blugold Radio will also be featuring a reflection for the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday via Breane Lyga’s Civil Conversations segment, as well as a feature on the Black Lives Matter movement with Eddieberto Sanchez.
Other highlights from this week’s broadcast will include:
- An international segment with Elizabeth Gosling, featuring an interview with Chinese international student Ke Jin, on culture
- A student organizations segment from Producer Sammi Wensel, featuring an interview with University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire campus Pride (LGBTQIA) President, Devin Dawson
- The debut of Homescreen on Air, a new gaming segment with Max Harding and Dwight Mills
Blugold Radio will also include regular segments on Eau Claire arts, sports and movie reviews, as well as an hourly newscast that earlier this year was named “Best Newscast” in the studio division of the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association annual awards.
WUEC 89.7 FM is a professional and unique student run program. Blugold Radio broadcasts from Hibbard Humanities Hall on the UW-Eau Claire campus Sunday nights from 5 to 8 p.m.
