Outstanding professor: Dandrielle Lewis, mathematics assistant professor, has been named an Outstanding Woman of Color In Education for 2015 by the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents. In her work to draw more women into math careers, Dr. Lewis helps to host an annual math day for middle and high school female students.

Civil Rights Conversations: Joanne Bland, co-founder and former director of the National Voting Rights Museum and Institute, spoke at the UWEC Risking Everything series on Oct. 12. Bland will be speaking at high schools and other university campus’ throughout the month of October on the topic of civil rights in the state of Wisconsin.
Comics and Culture: News reporters Kiri Salinas and Lauren French spoke on Tuesday with comic book artist Terry Fisk, and university professors Nicholas Smiar and David Recine last Wednesday at Le Phillips memorial library on how comic books affect culture and vice versa
on the impact of comic books in today’s culture.
