Blugold Radio Programming for October 12 Broadcast

WUEC 89.7 FM PROGRAMMING FOR OCTOBER 12

EAU CLAIRE, Wis., October 7–– Blugold Radio airs this Sunday with a feature on a University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire upcoming Gatsby Gala.

Producer Kayla Menzie’s “Exploring the Arts” segment this week will highlight an interview with a representative from Eau Claire Jazz, Inc. on the upcoming Gatsby Gala.  The Gala will take place on November 14 at 8:00 p.m. in the Ojibwe Ballroom of Davies Student Center.  The 1920’s themed party will feature a number of jazz musicians, vocalists and dancing.

Reporter Sam Martinez will discuss the 100th anniversary of the Carson Park.  The park was donated by lumberman William Carson to the City of Eau Claire in 1914.  Currently, the park is the location of the UW- Eau Claire football games, Eau Claire Express baseball games, the Chippewa Valley Museum and the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp.

Producer Courtney Kueppers will be talking to members from Alpha Phi Omega (APO), a service fraternity.  The UW-Eau Claire chapter of APO was founded in 1949. APO is a coeducational national service organization that provides it members the chance to develop leadership skills through service projects.

Producer Zhen Wei Yap will be speaking with a Philippine exchange student for his International segment “The Zhen Plane.”  Reporter Elizabeth Gosling will play traditional Philippine music.

Reporter Jake Meurett will reveal the first part of a new and thrilling Sci-Fi Radio Drama.

Reporter Samantha Wensel will be reviewing the movie “American Mary” for her weekly “Sammi Says” segment.  The 2012 film was directed by Jen and Sylvia Soska.  It stars Katharine Isabelle as the main character, Mary Mason. “American Mary” is available for viewing on Netflix.

Reporter Kiri Salinas will be reporting on food trucks in Eau Claire.

And finally, reporter Jake Paulis will be playing funk music throughout the show.  Funk is a musical genre that originated in the late 1960’s.  Funk was created by a mixing of soul music, jazz and R&B.
